Critical situation continues for ocean freight and the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach
We would like to keep you up to date with the situation on the West Coast ports in regards to ocean freight. The conditions do not look any better and the market circumstances suggest things will not ameliorate in May or June either.
Even with the slight improvements we observed last week in terms of anchored vessels, when the number went below 20, this week the numbers are increasing again and we have currently 21 vessels anchored. Today, May 13 there are 28 vessels at berth and the situation remains critical.
In this context, DACHSER and its dedicated teams are offering clients alternative solutions that are avoiding these ports. Another valuable option is DACHSER’s LCL expedited service, that connects ASIA to the US.
Companies that are not working with a logistics provider and are not offered alternative solutions are facing delays and potential additional charges, like higher trucking rates, demurrage and detention and long waiting times at the terminals for pick-ups and returns.
We are encouraging our clients to contact their local DACHSER representative to discuss their options and alternative solutions.
