DACHSER renews CEIV Pharma certification
At the end of May, DACHSER’s airport locations Hyderabad and Mumbai renewed their certification for the transport of life science and healthcare products. The certification is granted by IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma).
The transport of life science and healthcare products must meet exacting requirements. Medicines, vaccines, and other pharmaceutical products are often temperature-sensitive, urgent shipments that have to be handled in a complex regulatory environment. As an industry standard, CEIV Pharma certification covers the specific requirements of senders of pharmaceutical products with regard to safe, efficient air freight services that comply with all relevant regulations. “This recertification confirms our expertise in the life science and healthcare sector in India,” says Timo Stroh, Global Head of Air Freight, who is also responsible for the industry solution DACHSER Life Science and Healthcare Logistics.
Recertification takes place every three years; the same standards apply as for initial certification. This involves internal and external training, a review of procedures for handling temperature-controlled life science and healthcare shipments, and an extensive assessment of these complex processes by an independent auditor.
“Certification attests to the highest international service and quality standards through uniform processes and a compliant network,” Stroh says. In turn, customers benefit from secure, compliant, and efficient air freight services. “This recertification reaffirms our strong position in the Indian market despite the global effects of the COVID-19 situation. The Indian subcontinent is a key pillar of the industry solution DACHSER Life Science and Healthcare Logistics.”
Globally standardized and recognized certification
In addition to its Mumbai and Hyderabad locations, DACHSER’s branches in Shanghai, Frankfurt, and Atlanta also have IATA certification. With the Life Science and Healthcare Logistics Quality Management System, which is implemented on a global level, DACHSER can ensure uniform processes in all countries. “Because we have locations on three continents, we can offer our customers in the Life Science and Healthcare sector our services at the world’s key air freight hubs,” Stroh says.
CEIV Pharma provides the pharmaceutical industry with a globally standardized and recognized certification for the handling of pharmaceutical products that meets and exceeds international standards and guidelines. These include the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) as defined by the EU and the World Health Organization, the standards of the United States Pharmacopeia, and the IATA regulations for temperature control. DACHSER has held IATA certification for the transport of life science and healthcare products at Frankfurt since 2018, and in India and the US since 2019.
