Innovation needs change

What is innovation? What does it mean for a long-term thinking family business like DACHSER? And what does it mean for the network? Thoughts from CEO Burkhard Eling.

Burkhard Eling, CEO of DACHSER

“Have you ever taken a closer look at the much-used term innovation? The term has its origins in Latin and means innovation or renewal. In the basic sense of the word, it is therefore about the change or further development of something that already exists.

Is innovation revolution or rather evolution? There is more than just a letter in between. The common denominator is the need for constant change. This also applies to DACHSER in particular. We must constantly change in order to operate successfully and remain attractive to customers and employees in the long term. A willingness to change is therefore the key to continued stability and security.

We are striving for change that makes use of our existing strengths and has the coming generations in mind. The pillars for this are the long-term thinking of a family business, our local entrepreneurship with the courage to innovate and our highly standardized, yet flexibly adaptable general cargo network.

Innovation is an executive-level priority

DACHSER's core business is to connect people, resources and systems and to form logistics networks. We take the same approach to innovation. These arise from a multitude of ideas that are generated decentralized and therefore close to our customers, then developed centrally and also with external partners and then fed back into the entire network. This works at DACHSER not least because for us innovation is very important and therefore an executive-level priority.

From the network, for the network: we strive to be the world's most integrated logistics service provider. We want to offer our customers the highest level of consistent quality and reliability for their supply chains.”
