Transit Embargo: current handling situation in Paris and Frankfurt
Due to COVID-19 related staff limitations, there are disruptions at the Lufthansa handling terminal in Frankfurt. The same developments are now occurring at Air France/ KLM and its hub in Paris. The following measures have therefore been taken:
As of Wednesday, January 26, 2022 Lufthansa Cargo has issued a transit embargo in Frankfurt. Air France/ KLM had to do the same for their hub in Paris (CDG). Additionally, Air France/ KLM canceled all flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Hong Kong until March 26, 2022.
- Exemptions from the transit embargoes in FRA and CDG are to be made for BUP (Bulk Unitization Program), BXO (Emergency Solutions) and VAL (valuable cargo).
- Freight that has already been accepted will be dispatched as soon as possible.
- Freight that has not yet been delivered can unfortunately no longer be accepted.
DACHSER therefore refrains from booking and cargo planning of relevant transit shipments via Frankfurt and Paris for the Lufthansa and Air France / KLM network until further notice. Moreover Air France / KLM does no longer accept bookings of loose shipments with final destination Paris (CDG).
Transit shipments either have to be rerouted via other airlines and handling partners in the meantime or, owing to DACHSER’s integrated network capabilities, can be seamlessly connected from the Airfreight Gateway Frankfurt to the network of DACHSER Road Logistics for swift onforwarding all over Europe to their final destination.
By having linked the business fields DACHSER Road Logistics and DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics, DACHSER can not only provide integrated and efficient supply chain management solutions but also respond immediately to this very exceptional situation.
The developments at Lufthansa and Air France / KLM indicates indicate that further restrictions in operational handling might be temporarily expected in Frankfurt, Paris and other locations.
Local representatives at DACHSER will be happy to provide information about shipments and possible alternatives.
