Update: Yantian Port, Shekou Port and Nansha Port

The port congestion at the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) in Shenzhen is clearing, while the density at Shekou and Nansha is still on high level. Therefore, we would like to provide you with the latest status of the ports, with an overview about the situation and forecast of the sea freight market.

The terminal operation of YICT is back to normal level. All 20 berths at YICT have resumed full capability. The daily throughput is closed to 40,000 TEUs. The congestion in Yantian is clearing up. The density in Shekou and Nansha is still at a high level. However, the overall situation is improving day by day since the infection cases in Guangzhou and Shenzhen are now under control. Even though the terminal operation has greatly improved, the equipment shortage is still on very high level since there are too many vessel-omission in June, and the stability of sailing schedule is far below the normal level as well.

Besides of above we also note that the congestion is not only in Pearl River Delta area, but also all major port over the world. Thus, we foresee the entire recovery will be very slowly.

  • Since 3rd of July, the number of daily reservation of truck has increased to 11,000 per day.
  • Effective from 16th of July, export laden container gate-in will be accepted 7 days prior to vessel ETB (estimated time of berth), AND only after the terminal confirms the advanced reservations made by trucking companies for laden containers gate-in.

Shekou Port

  • Since 8th of July, export laden container gate-in will be accepted only to vessels within ETA-4 days. Only after the terminal confirms the advanced reservations made by trucking companies for laden containers gate-in. The number of daily truck reservations is 8,000 per day.

Nansha Port

  • In general, there is no restriction of pick up and return export laden container into the terminal from terminal side. In the meantime, some carriers may take the measures due to lack of equipment.
